Albert Wilgard's mother ( a great woman ) came to a LAHS football practice session walking the family pet across the dusty field on a leash. Fifty players and four coaches were present.

     She asked Coach Hubley if Albert ( a strapping tackle ) could be excused to go home to attend a birthday party for their pet dog!!  It's 51 years later and the story lives on. It's true!
